The Member of Parliament for Nata/Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga, says the much awaited Francistown/Nata road will be done in the 2017/2018 financial year.Speaking during a kgotla meeting in Nata on Monday, Mr Majaga said the 180 kilometre-road needed over P1 billion. It would be carried out through the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).
In the meantime, he said, the road would remain under maintaince until the project gets funding.Mr Majaga added that the portion for the Nata/Kazungula road that was left out when the road was constructed would be among the projects for this financial year.
Furthermore, he stated that services would be brought closer to the people through establishment of a sub-district and many government departments would open their offices hence speeding up service delivery.
MP Majaga said although some projects were scheduled for this financial year, they should, however, expect some to overlap to the next financial year because of the time frame. In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Rebagamang Rancholo said the Nata Sanctuary and Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) partnership seemed to have some good benefits for the community.
He said the partnership led to implementation of some projects that would help create employment.Through the partnership, he said, there would be construction of lodges and camping sites as a way of turning Nata into a fully-fledged tourism destination of choice.
Kgosi Rancholo said the people of Nata/Gweta looked up to government for creation of employment and with this new arrangement, “we are hopeful that such changes are going to bring more good things for the benefit of the locals”. ENDS
