17 Apr 2016

Debswana mines representative, Mr Jacob Modise, has commended Boela Gae Marriage Centre for its commitment towards nurturing strong relationships and family life.

The Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa (OLDM) plant manager said this during the organisation launch in Serowe recently. Boela Gae Marriage Centre now has an office in the village.

Mr Modise said every generation had fretted over the impact of social change on relationship,in which many  sudden changes had shaped and reshaped people’s lives and lifestyle.

He said the stress on relationships was not in any way a new phenomenon, however, the changing roles of men and women in family life and in the labour market made high demands on partners in marriage today.

The speaker said the demands of the workplace and the increased expectation for emotional and personal fulfillment in a marriage also put a strain on marriages.

Mr Modise said despite changes in socio-economic status, unemployment was still the experience of many families and brought its own challenges to marriage and family life.

He said changing attitudes to equality and an increasing concern about individual rights have challenged traditional views about marriage and said these dynamics have and continue to to have a profound impact on the stability of marriage and on its place as an institution in society.

“We have witnessed significant changes in society and in traditional family life.

Marital breakdown, the fall in the rate of marriage, the continuous rise in the number of non-marital births and in the formation of families outside marriage is a concern.” He said these factors have had a sizeable influence on the nurture of family life.

Mr Modise said institution such as Boela Gae become important as it recognizes the need to support relationships and marriages on a wide range of fronts.

He stressed the importance of supporting such organs to ensure that they achieve their goals. Debswana Mine gave Boela Gae Marriage Centre a short in the arm, by donating a projector, which will help their daily activities.

Mr Modise,on his personal capacity donated a printer. Some of the attendants also registered to support Boela Gae.

The founder of Boela Gae, Bishop Serategi Selapa expressed his gratitude towards what the mining company’s offering. He said this will help them go a long way in executing their daily chores.

He said their vision as Boeala Gae is to help save troubled marriage and said having an office and equipment will drive their goals. The Bishop said he is confident that their voice will be heard as an entity.

Boela Gae partner, Pastor Billy Chanda of Bible Life Ministries said that more partners are needed to ensure that marriages are saved. Pastor Chanda said that the Bishop’s vision is a gift that should be embraced by all to create a better life. ENDS
