The Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology Mr Nonofo Molefhi is in South Africa to attend the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) meeting.
A press release from the ministry says while in South Africa, Mr Molefhi will, together with other ministers of science and technology from participating countries, be updated on the progress of the SKA project.
“Botswana is one of the countries participating in the SKA project coordinated by South Africa, which will see the largest radio telescopes facility in the world being set up in South Africa with some satellite sites situated in Botswana,” says the release.
Currently, as per the release, some Batswana students have been sent to South African institutions to pursue undergraduate and graduate courses in astronomy and related subjects as part of preparations for the SKA project implementation.
Mr Molefhi, who is accompanied by his ministry’s senior officials, is expected back home tomorrow. ENDS
