Morupule mine donates to Balekane ba Botswana

Morupule Coal Mine has donated P15 000 to Balekane ba Botswana, Serowe branch, towards construction of a house for an underprivileged person at Mothwaoeme ward.
Initially, Balekane ba Botswana had planned to erect a tap for any underprivileged member of society but decided to build a house for one visually impaired Ms Otlaatla Montsho after consulting with social workers.
The house is expected to be handed over by the end of July this year.
Balekane ba Botswana is a group of Batswana who were born in 1966 when Botswana gained independence.
Speaking after the sponsored walk held recently, Mr Tom Mongale from Morupule Coal Mine representative commended Balekane ba Botswana for their “benevolence” towards needy members of the community.
Mr Mongale indicated that the spirit of self-reliance was slowly dying away hence efforts by Balekane ba Botswana to resuscitate it were commendable.
“We considered your proposal through our corporate social investment since it was in line with our ‘show you care’ motto,” he said.
Meanwhile, he discouraged what he said was the now fashionable trade where people assisted only when there were possibilities of lining up their pockets in the process.
On the other hand, Mr Henry Ramotserere of Balekane Ba Botswana said their intention was not only to partake in beauty pageants but to touch the lives of Batswana nationwide.
As such, Mr Ramotserere said they would continue to embark on house to house campaign for contributions in their efforts to successfully uplift the lives of Batswana. Ends
