Kasane police are investigating a case in which two boys aged 15 and 12 drowned in a man-made pond in Kasane on Sunday.
Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Dipheko Letamo said the two were certified dead upon arrival at Kasane Primary Hospital.
He said they received a report on Sunday around 2:20pm from a member of the community that a young boy had reported to him that two of his friends had drowned while swimming in the ditch.
“We responded to the case with the Botswana Defence Force scuba diving team and they searched the pond for about two hours,” he said.
Asst Supt Letamo added that a group of seven men volunteered to search for the boys and dived into the water to search for the missing boys.
“They found both the two boys dead,” he said.
Asst Supt Letamo advised parents to warn their children against swimming in ponds as they put their lives in danger. Ends
