Tati Siding public officers engage in unity walk

05 Apr 2016

Kgosi Simon Nkgageng of Tati Siding has commended the Village Extension Team (VET) for organising a 10 kilometer sponsored walk.

Speaking at the end of the sponsored walk organised by the extension team of Tati Siding on Saturday, Kgosi Nkgageng said the walk was the first of its kind in the village as it brought together civil servants, employees of Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) in the village and the community.

Kgosi Nkgageng said the walk would not only raise funds but would also help achieve the mission of the roving torch which sought to unite people from different backgrounds.

He said the unity achieved through the walk, would help the community in accessing services from different offices as they would have built rapport with the officers.

The VET chairperson, Mr Meshack Sechele said part of the objectives of the sponsored walk was to bring together civil servants and WUC employees in the village in order to build unity which is prerequisite to productivity.

He explained that having the civil servants and WUC employees working in isolation could hamper service delivery, adding that with unity, challenges such as shortage of resources such as transport could be easily dealt with.

“It will also help us serve the community better because we will be better positioned to explain to them where they can access different services without inconveniencing and delaying them,” he said. He said the walk would also promote fitness since a healthy workforce is a productive one. The walk was aimed at raising funds for a VET retreat scheduled for April 22-24 at Lekhubu Island in the Boteti Sub District. Ends
