National Health Institute houses not yet complete

The Assistant Minister of Health Dr Alfred Madigele has told Parliament that the National Health Institute (NHI) houses in Block 6 cannot be occupied because they are not yet complete.
Dr Madigele said the incompletion was mainly due to a dispute between the contractor and government that arose before the project was completed.
The assistant minister said the contractor who was awarded the works was Ramodisa Projects (Pty) Ltd whereas the consultants who were engaged were B&M Architects (Pty) Ltd as the Lead Architect.
Stewart Scott International came in as civil structure engineers, TNT Partnership (Pty) Ltd as quantity surveyors, while North Atlantic Engineering Company handled mechanical engineering.He said the tender was awarded at P28, 352, 981. 22 and to date P33,019, 824.02 had been spent, including the cost of additional works during construction and the cost of arbitration.Dr Madigele stated that currently the procuring entity which is the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology and the department of Buildings and Engineering Services are finaliSing the tender document for floating to complete the outstanding works.
He said it was expected that the project would be completed by end of October 2016 MP for Gabane-Mmankgodi Maj. Gen Pius Mokgware had asked the minister to state why the NHI houses in Block 6 were not yet occupied and who the contractor and consultant were.
He had further asked him to state how much was the budgeted cost, how much had been spent so far, and what was being done to solve the problem. Ends
