Team work bears fruit
31 Mar 2016
Deputy director of Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute, Dr Mompati Mmalane, has called for teamwork in the fight against HIV/AIDS as well as ensuring zero tolerance to new infections.
Dr Mmalane said this at the just ended Southern District full council session that Botswana was hard hit by the epidemic thus forcing stakeholders to come up with strategies to intensify the fight against HIV/AIDS.
He therefore implored people to test in order to know their status. He commended women for doing a great job through prevention of mother to child transmission, which reduced chances of infant infection to around one per cent.
Dr Mmalane applauded men who managed to get circumcised noting that the exercise reduces the risk of infection by up to 60 per cent in heterosexual men.
In the Setswana language a term which connotes a collaboration effort is Ya Tsie which translates that “Teamwork bears more fruit than individual effort,” therefore Dr Mmalane said HIV/AIDS need collaboration efforts adding they need people to help them fight the scourge. ENDS
