Govt on right track in job creation

29 Mar 2016

The Member of Parliament for Kanye North, Mr Patrick Ralotsia says the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) has proved beyond reasonable doubt that job creation has to be practical.

Mr Ralotsia, who is also the Minister of Agriculture, was speaking at the launch of land servicing and housing development projects under ESP at Mheelo ward in Kanye on Thursday.
He said the government was on the right track to meet set goals in job creation and improve the livelihood of Batswana through ESP.

He thanked the Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele for considering his constituency in his endeavour to ensure that Batswana get quality services.
He told Kanye residents who attended the ceremony that the launch of land servicing and housing development projects bore testimony that they have benefited from the programme.

Projects at Mheelo ward entail grading a network of roads, construction of a water reticulation system and undertaking housing developments through ESP.
He said ESP was creating employment for Batswana to better their standard and quality of life.

He said the developments would give Kanye a facelift and thanked contractors for employing Batswana in projects done under ESP.

Mr Ralotsia noted that the landscape of Kanye makes water during rainy seasons to run fast thus making roads constructed through grading to be susceptible to destruction. He implored relevant authorities to take that into consideration.

For his part, the managing director of Lift Off Investment, Mr Obokeng Rabai said they provide land servicing to Batswana to facilitate developments.
He said the grading of roads was taking services nearer to the people to enable them to undertake developments.

He added that his company has employed 34 citizens for a land servicing project under ESP and encouraged other citizens to play a leading role in ESP projects.

Meanwhile, Mr Jimmy Gaopelo of AB and Technologies, said he was awarded four houses under ESP to construct, adding that he has successfully completed two houses. He said citizen owned companies have the potential to carry out projects under ESP and urged the government to consider giving them more ESP projects as they were capable. Ends
