Okavango schools performance improves

The average performance of the 20 primary schools in the Okavango Sub-district from 2011 to 2015 was; 42.7 per cent, 46.3 per cent, 46.9 per cent, 44.4 per cent and 50 per cent of learners obtaining A, B or C overall, respectively.

This was said by the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya when responding to a question in Parliament from Okavango MP, Mr Bagalatia Arone. 

Mr Goya said the ministry had four juniors secondary schools in the Okavango Sub-district, whose average performance from 2011 to 2015 was; 60.3 per cent, 27.7 per cent, 23.2 per cent, 16.5 per cent and 17.8 per cent Merit A, B or C overall, respectively.

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development, the assistant minister said, had one senior secondary school in the sub district and its average performance from 2013 to 2015 was; 7.7 per cent, 6.9 per cent and 13.8 per cent of students obtaining 5Cs or better, respectively.

The general performance, Mr Goya said, was low but there was a slight improvement in the results for PLSE and BGSE.

The Okavango MP had wanted to know the performance of the schools for theperiod and if there were any lessons to be learnt from those performances. Ends
