Exercising essential
17 Mar 2016
Maun residents have been urged to take part in the national fitness day as it can help improve their health and physical wellbeing.
The call was made by Maun programme officer for sports and recreation at the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Buyani Mphetolang during the national fitness day in Maun recently.
He said exercising was essential for everyone as it could help reduce stress and keep a healthy mind. Mr Mphetolang noted that fit individuals were more focused in their activities.
He said exercising could keep a person healthy and productive at work. He said exercising could also keep people away from alcohol abuse. He said the fitness day was not meant for public servants only, adding that everyone was welcome to partake.
He observed that since the day was launched last year, attendance has been unsatisfactory.
Activities of the day included walking, jogging, aerobic dances and other body exercises.
The day was launched in Maun last August by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng to encourage people to exercise.
The event takes place the second Friday of every month. Ends
