ESP targets backlog projects in Kgatleng

The introduction of the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) by government which is meant to stimulate the economy and fast track the implementation of primary schools backlog eradication programme will benefit many districts across the country.
Officially opening Kgatleng District Full Council session on Monday, the council chairperson Mr Mpho Morolong said through ESP there will be construction of customary courts, upgrading of health facilities and rural electrification while at the same time ESP targets other sectors of the economy which include agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing.
He said Katleng District will this coming financial year 2016/17 benefit only backlog eradication programme that will be implemented under the ESP “and that is construction of 13 classrooms, 8 teachers houses and 24 toilets for Segale primary schools during 2016/17.”The council chairperson further said other projects to be implemented under ESP between years 2016 and 2019 include backlog eradication at Leshibitse, Artesia, Lady Mitcheson, Kgafela, Seingwaeng, Rasesa, Raditladi and Ramotlabaki primary schools.
Mr Morolong said among other projects to be carried out are the construction of Mmathubudukwane police station and 55 staff houses, records centre in Mochudi, peripheral land servicing for 7509 plots in Bokaa/Morwa/Pilane, expansion of schools, Modipane/Mabalane Road (24km) and Public Officers Housing Initiative.
He also told the councillors that as a way of empowering the youth, the ESP will reserve 15 per cent of minor maintenance budget of government facilities for youth companies and also apply 15 per cent prize reference margin for youth companies in open tender.
“Therefore, I urge you to mobilise and encourage young people to come forward and take advantage of this programme to improve their lives and create employment for other youths,” said Mr Morolong. Ends
