Stand against crime-Kgosi Mosadi
14 Mar 2016
Balete paramount chief, Kgosi Mosadi has called upon her tribesman to stand up against crime in order to build a crime free nation.
Kgosi Mosadi said this during a meeting of clusters attended by the district crime prevention coordinator, Superintendent Elizabeth Mosekiemang at the Ramotswa main kgotla on Friday.
She said crime could only be suppressed if residents and police work together. She further advised parents to know their children’s whereabouts.
She said good parenting plays a major role in instilling morality and automatically reducing crime rates, adding that lack of discipline causes crime.
Kgosi Mosadi said cluster groups which work with police in the fight against crime should regularly meet with chief representatives in their wards to discuss issues they encounter.
For her part, Superintendent Mosekiemang urged Ramotswa residents to join hands with the police and fight crime.
She encouraged residents to be each other’s guardians in their homes because crime affects every individual despite positions they hold.
Superintendent Mosekiemang also appealed to residents to join cluster groups to reduce the crime rate in their village.
“We should all take part in the fight against crime and not to leave everything in the hands of the police,” said Superintendent Mosekiemang.
She blamed the usage of alcohol and drug abuse as the source of the high crime rate and immorality.
She said it was embarrassing to learn that some parents sell drugs to students hence corrupting their minds.
Furthermore, the chairperson of Substance Abuse Support Group, Ms Tebogo Motsumi said it was important to engage and empower individuals and families on substance abuse.
She added that Botswana was a caring nation and that all parents should stand together to fight substance abuse. Ends
