Tati Siding bypass construction not in plan

14 Mar 2016

Construction of a bypass from Tati Siding to Francistown through Gerald Estate was not included in the National Development Plan (NDP 10).

Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo said in Parliament that was due to budgetary constraints and was not proposed for NDP 11.

Mr Mabeo further said construction of Mandunyane-Shashemooke-Borolong-Chadibe-Mathangwane road (65km) considered for construction under the current Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) was expected to reduce traffic congestion along A1 road.

He said it would also serve as a bypass to Francistown.

He said construction of the road is expected to commence during the 2016/2017 financial year.

Minister was responding to a question from MP for Francistown East, Mr Buti Billy who asked the minister to state when would a western bypass from Tati Siding to Francistown thorough Gerald Estate be constructed.  Ends
