It says the commission’s theme: Women’s Empowerment and the Link to Sustainable Development, is timely in the context of the 20-year review and appraisal of implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
It further says the recent adoption of Addis Ababa Action Agenda, as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be implemented this year.
The release sates that the 60th session of the CSW has a critical opportunity to identify the key enabling conditions for gender- responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
It has also an opportunity to provide concrete guidance on how to translate the commitments and gains from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda and its own 2015 Political Declaration into concrete steps and measures towards realising Planet 50-50 by 2030, it states.
