The Director of the Department of Public Service Management (DPSM) Ms Ruth Maphorisa says receiving an award leaves an indelible mark in an employee’s life.

Delivering a keynote address at the inaugural Botswana Public Service College (BPSC) staff awards on Thursday March 10, she stated that the awards are intended to improve staff motivation and recognise excellence. Ms Maphorisa said awards reinforce dedication and commitment within officers, adding that employees are critical in delivering any organisational mandate.

“We celebrate efficiency and creativity therefore I want to encourage staff to work together and bring something that will make the college a place of choice for learning,” she said.

She applauded all the award recipients who she said had demonstrated results and delivery subsequently beating the rest to win the awards. The director further encouraged all employees to keep working hard so as to become the best in what they do.

She saluted the silver jubilee awardees for serving the public service for over 25 years, adding that it is not about the quantity but the quality of the years spent doing what one enjoys.

BPSC director Ms Keba Nyati stated that the college rewards exceptional performance to cultivate motivation within the work force. She encouraged her employees to always do their best in their respective duties because they will reap the results in the end. Ms Nyati thanked BPSC strategic partners among them BOCODOL, JICA, BURS and UNDP for their endless support.

The director stated that the awards are meant to encourage others to do even better in the future. Ms Agnes Ntwayagae scooped the most prestigious award of the night, the executive director’s award best of the best, which had a prize of P1 000.
