Association donates wheel chairs to ministry

Botswana Chinese Friendship Association has donated 13 wheelchairs to the Ministry of Health which will be distributed to Gweta Primary Hospital and Nata clinic

Speaking at the donation ceremony in Gaborone, the Assistant Minister of Health Dr Alfred Madigele said it is an honor to have received some wheelchairs  which will be beneficial to  the residents of Nata and Gweta.

Dr Madigele noted that wheelchairs are a rehabilitative device which enhances independence and movements. He also asked the organization to assist with other devices such as neck collar to help those who were involved in road accidents and in need of them.

Dr Madigele also said their reFor his part the chairperson of BOCFA Mr Rudolf Boy said after further survey in the community of Nata/Gweta he realised that both health facilities are in need of wheelchairs, and decided to donate 10 wheelchairs to Gweta Primary Hospital and three to Nata clinic.

He said these wheelchairs answer the presidential credo on service delivery, as one of the milestones to measure government rendering service to the community as well as being in line with the vision 2016 pillars of a compassionate just and caring nation.

He said the organization is non-governmental and its mandate is to improve the person to person relation between local Chinese and Botswana.

Mr Boy highlighted that besides donating to Nata and Gweta health facilities the organisation has also donated to various institutions and individuals in the country such as Tutume Primary Hospital, the Presidential Housing Appeal and Kopong clinic.

Upon receiving the gifts, MP for Nata/Gweta Mr Polson Majaga expressed gratitude towards the BOCFA, citing that there was a need for wheelchairs in his constituency. Ends
