Lesirane dent Rangers survival hopes

08 Mar 2016

Lesirane City's Collins Gatsha added more misery to the troubled Black Rangers camp when he scored an unexpected  second  half solitary goal in the Debswana First Division South match played in Tsabong on Saturday March 5.

The match, was expected by many to produce blistering end to end performance by both teams bearing in mind the precarious positions the two sets of teams found themselves in , rather, it proved to be mundane with no sense of agency by both sides inside 25 minutes.

Lesirane City attempted an easy way out by shooting waywardly from a long range whereas the home side, surprisingly, substituted their  patience build up style with a rather unattractive style of sending hopeful long balls to their forwards.

The teams' eccentric display amounted to nothing for a while . For Black Rangers, striker Joseph Coetzee was well guided by Lesirane center back partnership of Otsile Malope and Ndinawa Marope whereas the visiting team's shots from long range all failed to find the target.

With the game nearing halftime, the defence of both teams started opening up. In the 39th minute, Lesirane left winger, Otsile Mogope hit the cross bar with a shot inside the box. This was after Kago Mosope of Black Rangers lost possession in a danger zone.

Black Rangers bulky forward, Joseph Coetzee  also came close to scoring in the 40th minute after heading wide, the provider being Johannes Kureng from a set piece. However, it was Lesirane City which could have gone to half time with the lead. Collins Gatsha, failed to convert from a close range after a lobbed through ball from Moagi Seadimo managed to beat the offside trap laid by Rangers defence.

The game went to half time with the score line 0- 0. After recess, both teams shown attacking intent. But it was the duo of Collins Gatsha and Otsile Mogope for Lesirane, who were dangerous going forward. Mogope offering trickery and pace in the left hand side whereas Gatsha threatening to draw first blood whenever he got the opportunity.

In the 64th minute, Gatsha's persistence finally paid off when he expertly placed the ball over the rushing Black Rangers goalkeeper Moabi Gabankalafe to give his side the lead. After the goal, the home side probed and surged forward for an equalizer but at times they where lethargic and hurried decisions in key areas.

Substitute, Kemiso Onkaetse could have found parity for Black Rangers but he squandere. ENDS
