Sankoyo end losing streak

Sankoyo Bush Bucks ended their losing streak when they beat Jwaneng Galxay 2-1 in Maun on Saturday.
Before the weekend encounter, Sankoyo had registered three consecutive losses at the hands of BDF XI, Township Rollers and Nico United.
It appeared Ngurungu Boys had not been demoralised by their losses as they started the game at a high pace.
The weekend encounter presented before the packed stadium a different Ngurungu through its approach as the revitalised Maun team seemed to have improved on their mistakes.
On one hand, when Galaxy coach Philani Mabhena led his charges against his former team, he seemed to have adequately cautioned them against the unpredictable Ngurungu.
The display of good football by the two teams at the beginning of the game gave supporters a marvelous match to watch, but it was Jwaneng Galaxy who got rewarded first in the 10th minute through Olebogeng Malebye.
Hardly 20 minutes, Sankoyo managed to equalise through a corner kick that was brilliantly finished by the captain Ocean Mpofu.
The two teams continued to create perfect chances of scoring but failing to convert into goals.
It was on the 35th minute when Moagi Sechele gave his team a second goal that caught the Galaxy defence napping.
After the recess, the fight continued as both teams visited each other’s goal post frequently but it seemed both goalkeepers were alert as they managed to block all the balls directed to them.
Galaxy made several substitutes in the likes of former Ngurungu scoring maestro Morris Ruzivo who did not add much value to the game as expected. Sankayo managed to defend its lead until the end of the match.
However, the winning coach, Tiiso Gadimang commended his boys for a job well done, noting that they displayed a classic performance and deserved a win.
He said after losing three games, they had to work hard on their mistakes and also strengthen their striking department.
He said his strikers were creating good chances but failing to convert them into goals.
Gadimang also noted that their new players are promising as they work hard to produce positive results.
For his part, the losing coach, Mabhena gave his boys a pat on the back, noting that despite their loss, they responded positively.
He said they displayed themselves well even though some things did not go well.
“I am happy even if we lost to Sankoyo, I believe that was an indicator to improve on our mistakes,” he added.
Mabhena noted that he is not under pressure because they are left with six matches which he believes they could capitalise on to increase their points in the log standing. Ends
