Projects delight councillors

07 Mar 2016

Councillors in the Bobirwa Sub-district are happy that the construction of a water pipeline to supply new plots at Malepane ward have started.

Malepane is a new residential ward in Bobonong which requires utilities such as water and electricity.

Bobirwa Sub-district roads engineer, Mr Ezekiel Gideon told councillors during a tour of Malepane recently that the project was scheduled to be completed in 10 weeks.

He said the project would use a big water pipe as the area sits on high ground, and requires a lot of pumping pressure.

He stated that the tender for the project has been awarded to a citizen contractor.

The councillors also toured 17 houses which were constructed for people who were affected by heavy storms last year at the tune of P765 000.

Council secretary, Ms Gomolemo Moepeng said the council decided to also construct houses for the family of a Mabumahibidu Primary School pupil who lost her life during a natural disaster last year.

She said the Bobirwa Sub District Council has contributed to the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation and appealed to beneficiaries to take care of the houses.

Ms Moepeng, the deputy district commissioner and several councillors volunteered to build a toilet for one of the beneficiaries.

Ms Othusitse Mmotlana, a beneficiary, appreciated the donation, saying she would now be sheltered from harsh weather conditions. Ends
