Create opportunities - Mabeo

The Roads Training Centre (RTC) class of 2015 graduates have been encouraged to work hard and be ambassadors of their industry to meet expectations from the government and the public.

The call was made by the Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Tshenolo Mabeo during the RTC graduation ceremony in Mogoditshane on Friday.

The graduation was held under the theme: From Job Seeking to Job Creation – The way to go for today’s graduates.From 47 graduates, 19 were awarded the Roads Technician Certificates while 28 graduates walked home with Heavy Plant Certificates.

Mr Mabeo said since job opportunities were still very scarce in the country, the graduates have the responsibility of marketing themselves to beat their competitors. 

He advised them to fight hard to create their own opportunities.“Go out there and compete. Do not forget that roads play a very critical role in our lives since they are involved in all sectors of economy. That is why we expect you to be part of our immediate solutions,” he said.

He warned them to guard against corruption at all times adding that corruption had the potential to paralyse the economy of any country. “You must at all times strive to be employers and employees of good caliber. Make sure that you always keep your hands clean,” the minister said.

For his part, Mr Benjamin Raletsatsi, a businessman and also the former executive director of Botswana National Youth Committee advised  the graduates to come up with initiatives to sustain themselves.

He also reminded them that the government had made it possible by creating very conducive environment for any venture.

He urged them to make use of the programmes they studied by creating employment for themselves and others.

When giving vote of thanks, RTC principal Mr Thomoitsile Moichubedi wished the graduates luck as they oined the world of work. Ends
