Makuta clinic on cards

President Lt Gen.Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has informed residents of Makuta in the Nkange constituency that the village’s clinic will be built. He was responding to Kgosi Allison Zambezi’s plea that Makuta needed a clinic.
He made the plea during President Khama’s meet and greet session on Saturday.
A house for the nurse would be built along the clinic, the President said. Kgosi Zambezi they were serviced through a mobile clinic on Wednesdays and during other days, patients were forced to go to Nswazwi or Tutume. On other issues, Kgosi Zambezi appreciated thanked government for programmes such as Ipelegeng.
Through Ipelegeng, they managed to build a kgotla shelter and a primary school.
The Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson, Mr Alakanani Thabiwa, thanked government for gazzetting their village in 2005 and upgrading the post of their kgosi to headman of records in 2008.
Mr Thabiwa, however, said cases were not being tried in their kgotla because of lack offices and a court clerk. He pointed out that the primary school did not have an administration block resulting in the storeroom being used as head teacher’s office.
He appealed to the President to upgrade their kgotla and primary school. In addition, he said although VDC came up with initiatives to raise funds, which they could use to build VDC houses, they still needed more assistance.
The President appluded the villagers for developing their village through Ipelegeng. President gave out 52 blankets, a camping chair to kgosi, 50 food baskets to the elderly and needy persons, 250 snacks parcels for children and 30 chairs to be used at the kgotla as well as 10 solar lights.
The area MP, Mr Edwin Batshu, said Batswana should understand that patience brings everlasting rewards and therefore they should welcome clinic construction that would come as package with a house for the nurse. Ends
