Gunners launch new home kit

03 Mar 2016

All Kasi has unveiled a new home kit for Lobatse based Extension Gunners for the 2016/2017 season in Gaborone.

The new black and white jersey with matching white pants was shown to the media as the next kit for the famous Lobatse club. The kit will be used for the remaining beMOBILE premiership games this season.

All Kasi managing director, Ludo Kemoeng also announced that Gunners will receive more monetary assistance from All Kasi during the kit launch.

Under the new deal, Gunners will be given P25 000 every month from dividends of selling team jersey replicas. He also said the team will receive P50 000 every transfer window and P5 000 every month for the youth development team.

Kemoeng said they decided to stall the release of the new jersey because the current Gunners jersy was still in demand.

He said it made business sense to keep selling the current jersey, adding that money from the sales  have assisted the team.

“The intention was to divide the returns from the sales which we shared with Gunners, however, we later on resolved that we give the team a fixed amount that is P25 000 every month,” he said.

Kemoeng said the resolution means whatever they reap from the sales, they were not going to share equally with the team but rather to give them P25 000 regardless of the returns they made. He said for them to stall the release of the new jersey, they wanted to sell all those on stock first. “We managed to sell about 6 000 replicas,” he said.

He explained that they only released a home kit without an away kit. Kemoeng explained that the black away replica shirts were not selling well and were still on their stalls.

He, however, said they intend to reveal the away regalia in the upcoming 2016/2017 beMOBILE Premiership season.

On the P50 000 which the team will receive during the transfer window, he said the amount was meant to help Gunners to buy new players.

He also said they have introduced a new development which was the youth development side. He said they have adopted two schools of Hillside and Ipeleng secondary schools with the aim of developing students with football talent. The youth development team will receive P5 000 a month.

Phenyo Gothang, the chairperson of Gunners, announced that the team has managed to sign six new players during the past transfer window.

He said the team has signed  Mandla Mogadla from GU, Chakalisa Leburu and David Mogapi from Mogoditshane Fighters. Gothang also revealed the signing of Keaketswe Moloi from Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

He also gave an update on the outcome of the special congress that was held in Lobatse which he said was to decide the fate of Gunners.

Gothang said Gunners supporters have tasked him to privatise the team. “Gunners supporters have taken the decision to privatise the team,” he said.

However, he noted that the development was not something new to the team because they have benchmarked from other teams who have taken the same route. He said they have advertised an expression of interest to local and international markets for those who might be willing to buy the team.

Gothang explained that they have resolved to put 80 per cent of the team for sell and that the society would remain with 20 per cent.

He also said they have gone through requests and have identified a prospective buyer who they were still negotiating with. Ends
