Mogoditshane Fighters came from behind to force a two-all draw with Letlapeng in Ramotswa on Saturday. The home side was the first to take a lead through Thabang Kgamanyane early in the first half as Letlapeng dictated the game pace for the visitors.
While the visitors were still battling for their footing, Tshepiso Sera extended the lead to make it 2-0 in favour of the locals before the half time interval.
From recess, Letlapeng set back and allowed the visitors to punch holes at their defense and eventually Kago Kopelo pulled one back for Fighters.
Even after the goal, Mogoditshane Fighters continued to mount pressure cracked the home side’s defence as substitute Stanley Tsonope converted from a close range, after coming in for Thatayaone Pitso from half time break.
The visitors continued to put the home side under pressure in search for a winning goal but Tsonope missed the target with a header unmarked steps away from the kipper.
Eventually, referee Lekgotla Johannes blew his whistle to decree that each side go away with at least a point.
During a post-match interview, Letlapeng’s coach, Enos Mmesi said although they squandered what was destined to be their three points, he would not fault his players.
He said Fighters is an experienced side and that paid dividends as they managed to come from behind to force a draw.
“In the second half, my players were a bit scared and we set back allowing the opponents to come to us,” he said.
His counterpart, Mpho Mabogo said his side managed to play their game in the second half after failing to adapt to the pitch conditions in the opening stanza.
“ By the second half, we managed to control the play and we managed to score goals,” said the former Zebras player.
Mabogo said although his side could have won the game he is taking comfort in the fact that they are now able to score goals after failing to score in their last four games. Ends
