Prayer answer to Satanism - Goya

29 Feb 2016

The effective solution to satanic fellowship that have befell some schools across the country is divine intervention in the form of prayer, says the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya.

Mr Goya was speaking in a kgotla meeting meant to address educational issues faced by the district recently.

He challenged the village tribal leadership to stamp their authority by calling  the alleged leaders of satanic churches  to the kgotla so as to account. “ They have to be summoned to the kgotla and confronted face to face so that they can see the negative influence they have on children.”

The satanic religious sect claims, according to Goya, are not music to his ears.  “ In Lotsane Senior Secondary School, which is in my constituency, I once received reports detailing worshipping of the devil in school premises. So I’m aware of your concerns.”

Earlier on, residents of Tsabong had complained about the existence of a satanic cult movement in the village and the indulgence of young people in acts pertaining to it.

One resident, who is also the chairperson of the secondary school’s Parent Teacher Association, Ms Regina Mosweu explained that the followers of the cult conduct their affairs under the famous sxanana tree at midnight. Ms Mosweu stated that the worshippers are normally school going children who have decided to abandon the guidance and command of their parents.

Another speaker, Mr Segomotso Ntau shared Ms Mosweu’s sentiments and said satanism is a major concern. “ Our children are been led astray by this satanism movement. We are no longer in total control of our own children.”

In addition, Mr Ntau is of the view that parents should collaborate to deal with the challenge of monitoring the performance of students in the village. Further, Mr Ntau highlighted that strict parenthood can help steer children in the right direction as according to him, children have completely lost the plot so far as behavioral standing is concerned.

On other matters, different speakers lauded the completion of phase 1  state of the art Tsabong Unified Secondary School project.  The revamped school, is expected to enroll the first batch of form 4’s in March 8. Ms Mosweu, said it is the responsibility of every parent to ensure that facilities are not vandalised so that future students can duly benefit as well.

Meanwhile, Mr Goya stressed that Matsha College will remain operational despite many parents calling for its immediate shutdown. He added that the government is working round the clock to find how best to solve the problems faced by the beleaguered and underperforming teaching institution. Ends
