28 Feb 2016

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama on Friday February 26 joined scores of public officers from the Office of the President on a community service day renewing playgrounds at the Dutch Reformed Church Day Care Centre in Gaborone.

President Khama was accompanied by Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale and his assistant, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele and other senior officials from different departments.

Activities of the day included painting the centre’s old play equipment and placing new ones.

Speaking about the objectives of the day, Minister Molale said they found it fit to play a role in community development by being directly involved in their activities.  He said when the community service day was introduced by President Khama several years ago, they only helped in various projects and left but this time they constantly monitor the projects.

The minister said the day was meant to share ideas, resources and work together to build a united nation adding it was also meant to promote Setswana culture. ENDS
