24 Feb 2016

The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, has urged Miss Remote Area Development Programme (RADP) finalists to give the pageant their all.

A total of 13 contestants in the third beauty pageant paid a courtesy call on the Vice President’s office on Wednesday February 24.

He encouraged them to give their best, noting that one day they shall become all they want.

“Many people at times misconstrue our programme and are quick to misinterpret and make others feel belittled. These efforts started in the 70s with aid from overseas based on the underlying intention of government to include all its citizens. Whatever opportunities are available should be afforded to all from all places,” Mr Masisi said.

He told the contestants that they were all winners and government was fully committed to efforts such as this one to make them realise their potential.

One of the contestants, Keamogetse Motswapupung from Ncaang in Kgalagadi thanked the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for offering them an opportunity to interact with the Vice President.

She said they were looking forward to a great competition.
Letshephang Obiditswe from Mababe in the North West encouraged youth from rural areas to embrace opportunities such as Miss RADP to unearth their talent.

The annual beauty pageant would be staged at Botho University Hall over the weekend. The event was organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. Ends
