887 plots transferred since January
24 Feb 2016
A total of 887 plots of various uses have been transferred since end of January within Palapye area of jurisdiction.
Addressing the ongoing Palapye Sub council meeting on Monday, the council chairperson, Mr Lesedi Phuthego said this trend of transferring plots is against the Ministry of Lands and Housing efforts of providing Batswana with land to have shelters.
He said the sale of land impoverishes land transferors as they often end up land less.
Mr Phuthego said the waiting list for Palapye stands at 16 168, 19 026 for Topisi and 6 163 and 6 013 for Lecheng and Malaka respectively.
In addition, he said Palapye sub-landboard is engaged in a systematic land registration exercise in Palapye village which started in 2013.
He said so far, 7 199 plots have been surveyed and registered.
Regarding allocation of plots, he said Palapye sub-land board had a target of allocating 1721 plots of various uses in the 2015/16 financial year and so far it has allocated 1 206 plots of various uses in its area of jurisdiction.
He said plots are ready for allocation at Manaledi with 138, 120 plots at Goo-Sekgweng, 142 plots in Topisi and Palapye infills with 326.He said layouts are still verified on the ground to ensure that plots to be allocated are developable and have no impediments which can stall developments. Ends
