Morupule coal mine hands over hall
23 Feb 2016
The general manager of Morupule coal mine Mr David Kgoboko recently handed over a hall to the Moremi kgotla as part of the company’s corporate social investment programme.
The construction of the hall started on October 10, 2015 and was completed on November 24, 2015. It was then refurbished from January 18 to 27, 2016.
Mr Kgoboko said the facility was built to the tune of P360 000 through funds raised by their employees to help deserving community causes. He related that Moremi Kgosi Major Tshito Days wrote them last year requesting the Morupule coal mine to build the Moremi kgotla the shelter.
He said they found it necessary to help Moremi kgotla due to the significance of such a structure in a kgotla. He said the global economic recession has negatively impacted many companies to an extent that some mines were forced to close down due to declining prices of mineral resources.
He said although the situation also affects Morupule coal mine, they would not shy away from helping communities in Botswana. He acknowledged the contribution of the Morupule cycling club, their employees, the community of Moremi and their contractor in the construction of the hall.
Area MP Mr Prince Maele lauded Morupule coal mine for the donation, noting that the firm has also built a shelter in his constituency in the past. Ends
