BEC releases BGCSE results

The Botswana Examination Council (BEC) has released the 2015 Botswana General Certificate for Secondary Education (BGCSE) results.

A press release from BEC says a total number of 38 796 candidates wrote the 2015 examinations showing  an increase in candidature of 3.8 per cent compared to 2014 cohort of 37 384. It says there were 16 483 male candidates and 22 313 female candidates who wrote the examinations.

The release states that the measure used to gauge the performance of candidates is the proportion of candidates who were awarded Grade C or better in 5 syllabi.

It further states that this year 6 291 (24.5 per cent) candidates from government and government aided schools were awarded Grade C or better in 5 syllabi compared to 5843 (23.3 percent), which shows a noticeable increase of 1.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, the release says candidates will be able to access the results through the BEC website as well as through SM  and also candidates are informed that statements of results can be collected at designated locations across the country from 23rd February to 4th March 2016 during government working hours.
