First National Bank Botswana Foundation has donated goods worth P35 000 to Aerodrome Primary School.
The school which also admits pupils with disability has 96 pupils and received donations, which included washing machines, irons, sports kit, sewing machines and garden tools.
The Francistown FNB branch administrator, Ms Gomolemo Zambo said that one of the FNBB Foundation initiatives is to support people with disabilities saying the donation is in line with their policy as it will benefit a group of students.
She added that FNBB Foundation provides the opportunity for greater involvement and cooperation with the community within which the company operates and stated that they will continue supporting the community.
“We hope and believe that the goods we have donated will boost pupil’s skills and will be valued so that even the lower classes when they grow up they can use them too,” she said.
The school head, Ms Chedza Mojewa, was delighted to have received the donated goods saying FNBB Foundation is responding to one of the Vision 2016 pillars of Just and Caring Nation.
She said the donated tools will be of benefit to the pupils as they mostly learn through physical activities and will help them apply their skills outside school and even help them improve their lives after completing their studies.
She further said when the students finish their primary school level they proceed to block training where they are tested to see if they can implement what they learnt.
Thereafter, Ms Mojewa said the students are awarded certificates, adding that some of them who completed well are now in Tirelo Sechaba.
Ms Mojewa commended the FNBB Foundation for understanding that disability is not inability adding that the donation showed love and brought hope to the pupils with disability.
The deputy mayor for Francistown, Mr Lechedzani Mudenga also expressed his gratitude for the love the FNBB Foundation has shown to the school saying that they should continue helping those in need. Ends
