Sharps relegate Black Forest to second position

23 Feb 2016

Sharps Ofentse Chitutu’s strike ensured that log leaders Black Forest were relegated to position two of the Debswana First Division South log in a game played at Sharps Grounds on Saturday.

The results means Rolling Boys are at the summit with 29 points while Forest, who have a game in hand, are in position two with 28 points followed by Sharps with 24 points

Although Sharps victory did not move them,  they are showing consistency given that they are now winning their games week in and week out.

During the game, Forest were the better team, but Chitutu’s 13th minute goal seemed to cause panic as they played under pressure and made mistakes while also squandering scoring opportunities.

Forest won a lot of free kicks and corners, but failed to capitalise on them with Sadat Sinare ballooning most of the balls.

Sharps on the other hand were enjoying their game and denied their opponents to execute their game plan.

The game went into recess with the score sheet reading 1-0, and after the break Sharps made it difficult for Forest to play as they resorted to parking the bus which frustrated Forest  players

In the 71st minute Sharps could have increased the lead but Chitutu’s attempt was thwarted. Forest tried hard to level matters but lack of composure in the box and Sharps goal minder Otsile Ben denied them all the scoring opportunities.

The game ended 1-0 and Black Forest coach, Murphy Maseko said Sharps was a good side hence it was on position three, adding that they have a good and experienced coach who has resorted to using youngsters, and that it was paying dividends

He said things did not go well for his side as they received the news that the team’s former coach has died just before the game, saying it might have affected his players psychologically.

Maseko said his players were in a hurry to score an equaliser and made a lot of mistakes in the process.

Sharps coach, Wilfred Mahaja said they had planned for Black Forest well during the week, adding that their aim was to get three points at all cost.

Their game plan, he said, was to score an early goal and defend wisely, adding that their goal was to win the league and get promotion to the elite league. Ends
