Principal education officer for North West Region Ms Didimalang Mmemo has commended Maun Technical College (MTC) for assisting Boseja Village Development Community (VDC).

MTC on Friday renovated and painted eight sets of VDC houses at Boseja ward as well as installing sign boards .  Ms Mmemo noted that the gesture was to mark MTC’s Community Service Day, a government’s initiative for departments to help communities.

She implored the MTC management to continue with the spirit of giving back to the community.The gesture, she said proved that MTC was not a learning institution only but put people at heart. She added that community service was a platform for the students to put the skills they acquired in practice.

Ms Mmemo also thanked the Planet Paint company owners who made the event possible through a donation of paints. Santa Cruz and Planet Paint co-owner Ms Ingrid Pretorius said they were happy and proud to have helped MTC with the paints to achieve their dream to assist Boseja VDC.

Ms Pretorius said they were also planning to help Boseja VDC develop a garden plot to help it attain some of its initiatives. She also requested the Boseja people to cooperate in helping the underprivileged and orphaned children through establishment of a trust fund.

Ms Pretorius said such children required assistance. She said Santa Cruz and Planet Paint companies were not only profit oriented but gave back to the community.
Earlier on, MTC principal Mr Edwin Seitshiro noted that the community service day was part of the President’s initiative.

Mr Seitshiro said MTC understood that the VDC houses were a main source of income hence the need to paint them.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Kegaisamang Ramokwena of Boseja ward expressed his gratitude towards MTC for employing their resources, labour and skills to assist his community.

Kgosi Ramokwena said the houses were in a bad state and the renovation was necessary. Ends
