Windhoek company donates house

15 Feb 2016

The community of Mabalane village in Kgatleng District, has been applauded for their collaboration with other stakeholders in constructing a house for a person living with disability.

Speaking at the handing over of a two bed roomed house, the country manager for Namibian Breweries (Windhoek) Mr Nico Vos said if it was not for the support from the community especially the VDC members they could not have manage to construct the house.

Mr Vos said they started constructing the house 4 years ago as a joint venture with Mabalane Village Development Committee members. He said they built the house through a competition in which they pledged with the winner that he/she will have to contribute part of the price money to a certain charity club or any individual who needs assistance.

Furthermore, he said the price winner was Ms Maitumelo Tlhagwane from Mabalane who nominated Ms Lesego Lephogole who is the beneficiary noting that it was not an easy road during the construction of the house.First, the VDC members had to identify  the land for the beneficiary  and other procedures. So this was a long process “where everybody was becoming impatient including our beneficiary, but at last we have managed to finish this project,” he said.

For his part, the district commissioner for Kgatleng, Mr Mompoloki Mochaneng commended Windhoek Company for assisting the beneficiary and also encouraged other companies to come forward and assist other people who still do not have proper shelter.

“I am also pleased to hear that VDC members are active and collaborating with others in the village, this is really a good spirit and I wish other villages could do what you are doing, and I encourage you to continue with the good spirit,” noted Mr Mochaneng.

When giving vote of thanks the area Councillor Molatlhegi Jautse noted that it was pleasing to see companies assisting the needy.  He added the house will give dignity to the beneficiary . For her part, Ms Lephogole ran short of words to express happiness at the beautiful house built for her by the company.

All she could say was, “thank you God” and thanked those who took part in the completion of the house. Ends
