Council rewards employees

The Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi, says procurement of goods and services helps promote local economies. Mr Masisi said this during Moshupa Sub-district Council employee performance awards ceremony on Friday.
He underscored the need to acquire goods and services from people who benefitted from poverty eradication initiatives.
Mr Masisi, also Moshupa MP, commended the sub-district for rewarding excellence.
The effort, he said, would not only spur on recipients of awards but would also challenge non-recipients to knuckle down thereby work towards attainment of a productive workforce.
“You are always at the helm when it comes to implementation of poverty eradication programme,” he said.
The Vice President also assured public employees of government’s commitment to improve their welfare.
He said a number of gestures among them, government’s resolve to allow public employees to engage in business, attain full salary while furthering studies as demonstrative of the former’s commitment to improve employees’ welfare.
Southern District Council secretary, Mr Mompati Seleka said employee performance awards were geared towards enhancing service delivery to Batswana by way of encouraging hard work and competiveness among employees.
“Other than recognising good performance, the award ceremony also affords us an opportunity to reflect on our achievements,” he said.
For his part, Southern District Council chairperson, Mr Mephato Reatile called on employees to work hard and maintain high caliber work ethic if they wanted to remain at the top.
“Being amongst the best performing sub districts in terms of service delivery has placed you under spotlight.
To remain at the top, you need to recommit and be focused,” he said.
Employees were awarded performance awards in categories among them; Time management, Knowledge of Work, Supervisory Abilities, Customer Care and many others. Ends
