Residents welcome taxis in the village

Newly constructed internal roads in Bobonong have attracted more taxis in the village and these have been highly welcomed by residents.
Residents expressed their happiness during an interview with BOPA in Bobonong recently.
One of the residents, Mr Paul Moemedi said the government has to be thanked for the construction of the internal roads in the village.
He said the roads have created employment and business opportunities for the residents.
“Our village has become bigger and it was very difficult to travel around it going from one place to another even visiting far places like government offices which are far from where we stay,” he said.
“Now there are taxis we can easily use to travel from one place to another,” said Mr Moemedi.
Ms Nomsa Thapelo said these taxis created employment for unemployed youth in the village, most of whom are now taxi drivers especially that government has recently come up with the initiative that PSV driving license has to be taken free of charge.
She said people can now venture into the business of owning taxis utilising this opportunity that is now available in the village.
“We were suffering to transport our groceries from shops to our homes which are too far from shops, thanks for these taxis and now we can hire them on a special trip to transport us to our houses,” said Ms Oreeditse Molemogi.
She said most of schools in Bobonong are outside the village and students used to travel long distances going and coming from school, now that there are roads, taxis will be engaged to transport children.
One of the taxi drivers Mr Sam Kelebemang said, roads are very important as they improve the lives of the residents. He said most taxi business owners do not want to operate the business in a place where there are no tarred roads because gravel roads damage cars.
Mr Kelebemang said taxis are increasing daily in the village rank and it has started to show up that the village bus rank is too small.
“Business is good in the village rather than in towns because some of the taxis are relocating from towns coming to Bobonong running away from the congested taxi ranks there,”he said. Ends
