The Tebogo Horatious Cater (THC) Foundation is a foundation that advocates and lobbies for change in attitude and policies relating to domestic violence. The founder of the foundation, Lt Gen. Tebogo Masire said in Taung, Ramotswa recently where he donated groceries to the needy.

Lt Gen. Masire said unlike in the olden days, families are no longer as united which has led to the elderly living alone. He said that is why foundations like THC that aim to give assistance to the organisations that help people of this nature are indispensable.

He said volunteerism requires bravery and love and that people who have these qualities should be acknowledged and appreciated. Lt Gen. Masire also said his foundation will continue to work with the Taung Home-Based Care to help it source more assistance.

Speaking on behalf of the Taung Home Based Care Ms Theresa Morweng, said their home based care was established in 2000. She said they were a large group of volunteers who had no money but the willingness to work.

She said they started with a backyard garden to grow vegetables for their patients and since then, they have been getting assistance from various individuals including their chief and companies.

She said donations came in the form of food, wheelchairs and toiletry. Ms Morweng said she was very grateful to the THC Foundation for the donations. Taung village chief, Kgosi Lebogang Masie said the world should be thankful for the good Samaritans.

He said assistance in any form should be handled with care and appreciation as it is not everyone who is willing to help. Kgosi Masie advised the villagers against selling materialistic donations. He said he has seen situations where families were sold food hampers and livestock that were donated to them.

He also thanked Lieutenant General Masire for the generous donations and wished his foundation greater growth. THC Foundation donated food hampers and toiletry to the Taung Home Based Care patients.  Ends
