Nata operates as service centre
09 Feb 2016
Nata Sub-district is currently under Tutume Sub-district and is among the 19 additional sub districts and six administrative authorities which were approved by the government to be established during National Development Plan 10 and beyond.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen said due to budgetary constraints, Nata Sub-district has not been established and currently operates as a service centre.
Mr Westhuizen said the ministry does not have immediate plans to establish it as a fully-fledged sub-district, but would be considered together with other priorities for NDP 11.
He further said a centre manager at D4 salary scale has been appointed and deployed at the centre to coordinate the day to day running of the service centre.
The assistant minister also said Ipelegeng Programme staff were allocated according to administrative boundaries and not per constituency, adding that Nata/Gweta constituency was covered under Tutume Sub-district.
Nata/Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga had asked when the long promised establishment of Nata Sub-district would be undertaken and when a centre manager would be appointed.
He also asked when the Ipelegeng coordinator would be appointed for the Nata/Gweta constituency. Ends
