Immigration departmet equips employees
03 Feb 2016
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has introduced a training course to equip new staff with basic knowledge and understanding of immigration procedures and regulations.
Speaking at the official launch of the course, deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs, Mr Claude Mojafi, said the ministry was inundated with allegations of incidences of corruption.
“Equipping our officers with the basic immigration knowledge and understanding will not only enhance their appreciation of the statutes they use in serving the nation, but also to sensitise them of the risks involved,” he said.
Mr Mojafi said modules such as customer care, corruption in the workplace and intelligence gathering were critical to their day to day operations.
For his part, the director of Immigration and Citizenship, Mr Mabuse Pule, said the training would build the confidence of participants.
The training will last for five weeks commencing on the first of February in Gaborone. Ends
