Gaborone to represent Botswana in Mozambique

President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has appointed Mr Olebile Gaborone as Botswana’s High Commissioner designate to Mozambique.

He will take up his appointment in Maputo in March.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Gaborone will be replacing Mr Thuso Ramodimoosi.

Mr Gaborone holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Humanities from the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland and a Masters in Education from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

The release states that “Mr Gaborone brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into his position of high commissioner.”

Prior to his appointment, says the release, he was a Member of Parliament for Tlokweng, formerly known as South East North from 2004 to 2014. 

He also served as Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development from February 2013 to October 2014,” states the news release.

It further says Mr Gaborone has also held many senior positions such as chief executive officer of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation, managing director of Longman Botswana, lecturer and assistant registrar at the University of Botswana. 

“He is also one of the founding Members of Matlala Secondary School and Longman Botswana and author of three Setswana novels,” says the release.  Ends
