Gaborone United outclass Miscellaneous

02 Feb 2016

Gaborone United (GU) came from behind to defeat Serowe-based Miscellaneous football club 3-1 on its own turf on Saturday.

Miscellanous or Tse Nala’s solitary goal was converted by Kelepile Terata from a free kick spot near the penalty area after Godwin Bonsu was cautioned for holding Mponang Mponang ,30 minutes into the game.

However, the host’s lead was cut short before break when GU import, Benson Shilongo rose higher than the host’s defence to head in the equaliser.

The visitors came back from break with guns blazing, visiting the host’s goal posts frequently.

Their efforts yielded as they extended their lead through Karabo Phiri’s goal after Tse Nala’s defence failed to intercept a cross from the creative Obonwe Maome.

Just 33 minutes into the last half, Maome dribbled past the Tse Nala defence and slotted in GU’s third goal.

The entire second half GU paralysed Miscellanous in the middle of the park and terrorising its defence from the wings.

Whenever Miscellaneous, who were struggling to exert authority on the game, took possession the visiting side went back in numbers and thwarted all threats.

The host coach’s attempts to strength his side middle field by pulling out Kamogelo Molemogi  for Pako Osupile had little effect.

In the dying minutes of the game, Tse Nala goalie Bophelo Kealeboga brilliantly stopped Shilongo from scoring GU’s fourth goal.

Miscellanous coach, Russia Chaba, acknowledged that GU outclassed them in all departments.

He said the visiting side was very dangerous on crosses and compact in the middle field.

He said the absence of Bogosi Mfila in his line-up was due to his indiscipline, citing his absenteeism from training sessions.

GU coach, George Mogopodi was happy that they converted their chances.

He said they exposed their opponents through wing play.

Meanwhile, in a game played on Friday at Serowe Sports complex, Township Rollers defeated Motlakase 2-1.

Jerome Ramatlhakwane opened the score sheet in the first half.

Otsile Seanego equalised in the second half only for substitute Sekhana Koko’s shot to be deflected into the back of the net by Joseph Ngoeng. Ends
