The Administration of Justice (AOJ) will hold the annual official opening of the legal year to mark the official commencement of hearing of cases on February 2.  

A news release from the Office of the Registrar and Master Administration of Justice of the High Court of Botswana, the event will be held at the High Court and Court of Appeal premises in Gaborone under the theme: Adequate funding: Key to a free and independent judiciary. 

The event will commence at 7:30am and President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has been invited to attend the occasion. 

It states that Chief Justice Maruping Dibotelo will be the keynote speaker at the official opening of the occasion and other speakers will include the Attorney General, Dr Athalia Molokomme and the chairperson of the Law Society of Botswana, Mr Lawrence Lecha. 

It further says the occasion will bring together judicial officers, judges, registrars and magistrates, senior government officials, members of the Law Society of Botswana, Members of Parliament and members of the diplomatic corps.   

“Members of the public are also invited to attend and on the day, there will be no court sessions save for matters deemed to be urgent,” says the release. Ends
