24 Jan 2016

Tafic Sporting Club walloped Maun Tigers 2-1 in a First Division north encounter played at the Francistown old stadium on Saturday.

Tafic showed their intention in the first minute of the game, piling pressure on their opponents. They dominated the midfield with Allen Diwere doing all the dirty work in the midfield.

Maun Tigers struggled to gain composure and failed to contain Tafic attacks. Matchimenyenga boys had numerous clear cut chances but failed to utilise them.

Tafic pulled out Kemoreng Batisani and brought in Otsile Sithole in the dying minute of the first half.

Both teams went to the break having not found the back of the net.

In the second half, Maun Tigers upped their game and were unlucky not to find the back of the net as they failed to convert clear cut chances. Tafic on the other hand continued from where they left in the first half as they continued piling pressure in search of a goal.

In the 53rd minute, Seloka Nchinano gave Maun Tigers a lead after exploiting the mistake of Tafic defence and scored.

The goal boosted them as they began to enjoy ball possession. In the 63rd minute, Maun Tigers made double substitution bringing in the duo of Leonard Kangodi and Tshiamo Lehitile to add on their attack.

Immediately after the substitution, Tafic found the equaliser in the 67th minute through a scorcher from Mbatshi Machongo. Tafic then pulled out Sithole who failed to live up to expectations after being brought in as a substitute in the first half.

In the 88th minute Maun Tigers threw in their last weapon bringing in Obusitswe Vasco for the goal scorer Nchinano in search of the winning goal. In the 90th minute, Thato Mosweu scored from a free kick to give the Matchimenyenga boys their first win of the second season. Immediately after the goal, Maun Tigers Simon Keetile got a red card after a dangerous play on Phuthego Modipe.

In an interview after the game, Tafic coach Atshele Molapi said it was a tough game for them as they struggled to play.

He said Tigers played a good game which forced them to make some changes in the first half. He further said the changes worked for them as they started to pull up their socks in the second half.

His counterpart, Lolo Mosojane said the game went well for them as they prepared well for Tafic.

He said they missed chances which could have given them a win.

In addition he said the two goals from Tafic were due to concentration lapse from his players, but applauded his players for applying themselves well.

In other games played on Saturday, Mahalapye Hortspurs played to a one all draw with TASC while Kazungula FC also played to a one all draw with Real Movers FC. Tonota FC walloped Tsabotlhe FC by three goals to one. Ends
