Sankoyo Bush Bucks motivatescounsel players

21 Jan 2016

In an effort to boost morale and team spirit in Sankoyo Bush Bucks camp, the management has engaged three specialists to provide motivation and counselling to players.

It has been reported that players' morale was low as they were not paid their December salaries. Some players have not trained with the team since returning from the festive season while a few turned up in protest over unpaid salaries.

The management has also invited Botswana Football Association, president Tebogo Sebego and Zebras coach, Peter Butler to address and motivate the players and executive committee.

In an interview, the new chairperson, Apollo Moalosi confirmed that they had managed to engage specialists to motivate players and provide counselling to uplift their morale.

He expressed happiness that despite the challenges faced by the club, players appreciated the situation. Moalosi also appreciated players' frustrations of not being paid and assured them that things would change for the better.

He said they were doing their best to address issues at hand and start afresh. The chairperson also thanked players for their sterling performance against Mochudi Centre Chief despite the challenges they faced. The team held Magosi to a 1-1 draw.

He said the result indicated that the players had regained morale and had shown commitment and zeal to prove a point that they were capable.

He said the players' welfare was paramount and that the management was committed to ensure they meet their needs. Moalosi also expressed concern that the number of supporters attending their matches had dropped drastically due to the team performing badly.

Ngurungu had been enjoying massive support during their home games, but since the team encountered some challenges, the support base had gone down as some prefer to watch from home.

He said it was one of their objectives to win back the supporters by transforming the image of the team. Moalosi has been a loyal fan of Sankoyo before the team was promoted to the premier league. He was co-opted as a chairperson after the resignation of the former chair, Willie Dikgosana.

He explained that he used to ask for donations for the team until it qualified to play in the elite league. He also pointed out that efforts to approach mining companies to secure a sponsorship were in vain as management complained of low production.

Moalosi called on the executive committee to cooperate and work as a team for the success of the team. He was optimistic that the team would survive relegation.

Meanwhile, about three key players have left the team for greener pastures. The teams’ vice secretary, Onalenna Ditlhakanyane confirmed that negotiations with some teams which showed interest in some of their players had been sealed.

He said midfielder, Thero Setsile has been recruited by Jwaneng Galaxy, Jackson Lesole joined Gaborone United while Keorapetse Seloile is training with Sua Flamingoes which is in the Northern First Division.
Ditlhakanyane also revealed that some players in the likes of Moris Ruzivo and the teams’ number one goalkeeper, Basimanebotlhe Moilwa had not returned to the camp after the festive season. Ends
