Police in Letlhakeng have appreciated the support and cooperation from the public in locating the couple that went missing in the area on Monday.

Speaking in an interview, the station commander for Letlhakeng police station, Supt Christopher Molobe said with the assistance of the pubic, the couple was located in the bush between Letlhakeng and Sesung on Tuesday at around 8pm.

He said they were then taken to Letlhakeng clinic for assessment afterwhich the woman was released while the man was remanded in police custody.

He said at the moment, they were still investigating the matter before they could determine what charge to lay against the man. The couple hailed from Shageng ward in Letlhakeng.

Giving the background to the matter, Supt Molobe said on Sunday, the woman reported to them that she had a misunderstanding with the man who is the father of her child.

He, however, said that the woman later withdrew the case as she and her parents insisted that the matter would be solved amicably at home.

He said, however, that on Monday, the man went to pick the woman at work in the pretext that he was going to give her some money at home.

Supt Molobe said out of concern, one of her colleagues later informed her parents about the incident when the woman failed to return to work and the parents reported the matter to the police.

He said they then looked for the couple in the vicinity of Letlhakeng and later called in their air-arm division who failed to locate them until Tuesday evening. ENDS
