The 2014/15 beMOBILE Premier League reigning champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs will not participate in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Championship League which is scheduled to kick-start on the 13th of February this year.

Speaking in an interview with Magosi’s communications manager Clifford Mogomotsi on Monday, he said they pulled out of the championship because the competition is too expensive.

He said his team is in a financial crisis, hence this would not allow them to participate in the championship.

In addition, he said they were given a short notice to comply with CAF Club licensing requirements.

The requirement want clubs to submit audited financial statements, development teams and contract of lease agreement with stadiums of their choice which Mogomotsi said was going to be costly and will take all their resources.

Mogomotsi further said there are a lot of challenges they have to put up with regarding participating in the championship.

He further said some teams in Botswana choose not to enter CAF competitions after qualifying because of financial constraints adding that teams spend a lot of money in CAF assignments yet they get little financial help.

He also explained that they have now shifted their focus to the domestic league.
