The Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) produces competent and brilliant graduates who match employers’ required set standards.
The acting principal, Mr Mooketsi Mfanyana said this during a meeting with the visiting delegation from Seychelles at the college recently.
Mr Mfanyana said they have introduced recognition of prior learning to up-skill teachers who were already in different institutions and those not part of their institutions for easy learning.
The Seychelles head of delegation, Mr Jean Alcindor said during September last year, the Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Unity Dow signed a memorandum of agreement with her counterpart in Seychelles.
He said when signing the agreement, the two parties agreed on the recruitment of teachers from Botswana to work in the Seychelles and sending of teachers from Seychelles to Botswana to come and learn.
A member of the Seychelles delegation, Mr Jean-Michel Domingue said the benchmark exercise was a study tool for them, as firstly, they were taken through the policy level of the education system before the technical side.
They visited institutions such as Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BUIST) and before ending their visit, they passed through Serowe Brigade where they got a chance to witness the agricultural sector.
He said they appreciated the whole process as they have seen the role of the secretarial committee in fulfilling the needs of education and said he was impressed with the resources that they have seen. He added that it was a clear indication that education was being taken seriously in Botswana.
In his closing remarks, the head of the delegation, Mr Alcindor applauded the school management and the MoESD delegates for hosting them and showing them the school equipment.
He said they were happy to see the practical work done by students, and said the government of Botswana was on the right path and further said he was impressed by the link that FCTVE has with the University of Botswana (UB) and Botswana Qualification Authority. Ends
