Gender activist Anderson dies at 72

Botswana Media Women Association (BOMWA) has sent message of condolence to the family of renowned gender activist Joyce Anderson who passed away last Saturday at Gaborone Private Hospital.
A
nderson who was 72 years old died after a short illness and she will not be forgotten for the role she played on gender equality.
A release from the chairperson of BOMWA Ms Keabonye Ntsabane states that her footprints are visible as she represented the voiceless on both gender based violence and women in decision making and power sharing.
Ms Ntsabane further said Mma Anderson will also be remembered as one of the brave women who had issues of women at heart. She therefore said her death is a real loss to the gender movement and Batswana in general.
“BOMWA wishes her soul to rest in peace and thank her for empowering other women in the movement, the gender light will continue burning”, she stated.
Anderson’s memorial service is scheduled for today (Thursday) at Broadhurst UCCSA church at 5pm. She will be buried at Phomolong Private Cemetery in Phakalane Estates on Friday morning and the service will start at 6:30 am. Ends
