Residents applaud govt
13 Jan 2016
Residents of Metlobo and Tsoaneng have applauded the government’s resolve to bring developments to their villages.
They said this during kgotla meetings addressed by the Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Madigele. They said the gesture was also symbolic of the government’s commitment to better their lives, restore their sense of being and pride as Batswana.
Tsoaneng headman of arbitration, Mr Shele Kgoga said the developments would lessen the plight of the people who have been forced to travel long distances on poor roads to access services.
Another resident, Mr Tlhalefang Tladi concurred with Mr Kgoga, saying the construction of a clinic in Tsoaneng would cut the travelling costs they incured to access health services as far as Metlobo and Good Hope.
Mr Pesalema Mokomele said judging by the developments coming to Tsoaneng, the Economic Stimulus Programme was the way to go.
Dr Alfred Madigele, who is also the MP for Molapowabojang/Mmathethe said the government has given the green light to a number of projects through the Economic Stimulus Programme.
The developments, he said, include the tarring of the 47 km gravel road that links both Metlobo and Tsoaneng, the construction of a clinic in Tsoaneng, the establishment of a service centre in Mmathethe, construction of 33 turnkey houses across the constituency and many others.
“It is my hope that these developments will bring services closer to you. The farming community should be able to take advantage of these developments to augment agricultural output,” he said.
Dr Madigele implored farmers whose fields would be affected by the construction of the envisaged road to cooperate with the government to avoid unnecessary delays. Ends
