Sibanda parts with Ngurungu

Hardly a week after the resignation of the former Sankoyo Bush Bucks chairman, the team manager, Odirile Sibanda has also resigned from the club with immediate effect.

Sibanda confirmed in an interview that he resigned from the team because he wants to focus on his job.

He is employed as a development sports officer at Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) based in Maun.

He said he submitted his resignation letter to the executive committee and is still waiting for their response. Sibanda, who joined the team when it was elevated to the premier league, said he has been concentrating much on the club while his job was suffering.

The team’s vice secretary, Onalenna Dithakanyane confirmed the former manager’s resignation stating that the reason he advanced was that he wanted to concentrate on his duties at BNSC.

He said Sibanda observed that he had a lot in his plate hence there were slim chances to assist the team as expected. Dithakanyane described Sibanda as a hard worker who had the team’s interest at heart, noting that his departure has affected the club.

He said they would co-opt someone to replace him until the annual general meeting date is set.

However, the team has also co-opted Apollo Molaosi as the chairman after the former chairman, Willie Dikgosana quit the club last December.

Dithakanyane said their priority is to reassemble the team and move forward with preparations for the upcoming encounter. The Ngurungu Boys will face Magosi this weekend at the National Stadium.

He confirmed that the players had started training despite the pending issues of their salaries which the management is still handling.

Meanwhile, about eight players from the club might leave for green pastures if negotiations go well. Dithakanyane explained that about seven teams have written letters showing interest on some of their players, noting that they had given the teams a go ahead to negotiate with the players.

He revealed that Jwaneng Galaxy has shown interest in the likes of midfielder Thero Setsile and striker Moris Ruzivo while Gaborone United and BDF are eyeing Jackson Lesole.

Other teams that have shown interest are Extension Gunners which want Wadza Seleka, Miscelleanous which is negotiating with Refilwe Senyame and Moagi Sechele while Nico United is eyeing Kutlwelo Mpolakang and Sowa Flamingo which is in the Northern First Division and is eyeing Keorapetse Seloiso.

Dithakanyane said only two teams, Jwaneng Galaxy and Gaborone United are at an advanced stage with negotiations. Ends
